My name is Emeka Samuel Okwudili and I was born in Nigeria. At the age of 6 years old, my Family and I moved to Winnipeg Canada. I grew up in Winnipeg, before moving down to the United States for medical school and residency.
Special interests: Community health and engagement, working with underserved communities.
Hobbies: Hobbies include Sports such as Soccer, Basketball, Golf, Football. Music, outdoor activities, and being around family and friends.

Langdon Prairie Health is proud to welcome Dr. Emeka Samuel Okwudili, affectionately known as Dr. Sam, to our medical team as a Family Medicine Physician. Joining us in July 2024, Dr. Okwudili brings a wealth of knowledge and a compassionate approach to patient care, honed through years of diverse clinical and volunteer experiences.
Dr. Sam was named the Medical Director of the Cavalier County Public Health District, where he will guide public health initiatives to benefit the community and is serving as the Chief Medical Officer at the Osnabrock Community Living Center. Additionally, he is leveraging his interest in sports injuries to develop a comprehensive concussion protocol for local school sports teams, ensuring student-athletes receive the best care and prevention strategies.
He completed his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Connecticut in June 2023. Dr. Sam earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Saba University School of Medicine in 2020 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of Winnipeg.
Throughout his career, Dr. Sam has demonstrated a commitment to community health and wellness. His clinical experience includes serving as a volunteer on the COVID-19 task force at Kingsbrook Jewish Hospital in New York, shadowing primary care physicians at Kennedy Medical Clinic in Winnipeg, and volunteering in the pediatric unit at Nnokwa General Hospital in Nigeria.
Dr. Sam is also an accomplished researcher, with contributions to studies presented at prestigious organizations such as the Connecticut Academy of Family Physicians and the Association of Academic Physiatrists. His research interests span a range of topics, including exercise as a prescription, encephalitis management, and the impact of neck strength on head injuries in young female soccer players.
In addition to his clinical expertise, Dr. Sam has a strong background in community service, having volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, and the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization of Manitoba. His dedication to mentorship and youth development is reflected in his roles as a student mentor and children’s activity organizer.
Dr. Sam holds multiple certifications, including Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
Outside of medicine, he enjoys playing soccer and basketball, photography, and volunteering with programs aimed at helping underserved populations.
